Project Overview

Being a Part of Samruddhi Mahamarg, Nagpur Mumbai Expressway connecting the geographical center of India at Nagpur to the financial center of India at Mumbai. Package 14 of this expressway starts from Igatpuri and ends in Vashala and contains major viaducts and tunnels which cross the lush and beautiful terrain of Western Ghats mountain range.
Viaduct 1 with a total length of 900m contains simply supported spans of 35m with continuity of 3 spans to ensure ride quality. The viaduct has pier positions such that it presicely crosses over the river Darna, two village roads as well as Interchange 1, which connects the expressway to NH3 and the town of Igatpuri.
The structure is designed for a driving speed of 150 kmph carrying 3 lanes of traffic on each carriageway. A number of key innovations were carried out like annular open foundation, precast planks for deck slab construction and stepped piercaps to generate efficiency and faster constructability.
