Sagar Elevated Road

Sagar, Madhya Pradesh

Project Overview

Located in the temple town of Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, this elevated corridor is part of developing Sagar into a smart city. Built over the scenic Sagar lake which is adorned by temples on its banks, the elevated viaduct cum bridge provides an alternative route to the busy and congested city roads which already operate over capacity. Carrying two lanes of traffic and two footpaths which provide scenic views of the lakefront as well as the many religious sites, the elevated corridor is built to minimize its impact and visible footprint in the cityscape of Sagar.

The project consists of 1.26km length including 1km of elevated structure over the lake and rest in retained road, with 14m deck. It also includes the development of roundabouts at each end to facilitate smooth flow of traffic as well as being aesthetically pleasing. Design and construction was carried out in just 18 months and had to avoid disturbing the natural habitat as well as religious monuments and temples.
